You Too Can Find Passion & Impact in the Education Sector

I remember my investment banking analyst days vividly. Long days. Long weeks! But, it wasn’t the long hours that convinced me to look elsewhere. It was the lack of a connection to the work. I simply didn’t personally find the work meaningful. I wasn’t passionate. I never felt “flow” in the workplace working for a cause I didn’t care about. Sure, I learned a lot. And I liked the people I worked with. But for me, investment banking wasn’t how I wanted to spend my life. I wanted to work towards a cause greater than myself. One where I could make a positive impact on the world AND love the day-to-day of what I was doing. I needed a change.

Perhaps that resonates with you. As we move into fall and the days become shorter and colder, going to work in a job you are not passionate about can feel especially depressing. But, there is another option! Now might be the time to consider switching to a mission-driven organization serving a cause you connect deeply with in a function in which you excel. But here’s the challenge – where do you begin?

First, if that’s you and education is the cause you care about, check us out at WorkMonger. It’s free for JobSeekers, and we’ll connect you with mission-driven work in the education sector that uniquely fits your capabilities and who you are as an individual.

Second, if you’ve never worked in the education sector, you might think that working in education is for teachers and former teachers only. Wrong! The education sector is just as diverse, and has most of the same skillset needs, as the private sector. Whether your functional expertise is in finance, communications, talent, strategy, operations, data analysis, or something else, we have jobs for you. And, whether you thrive in small, innovative environments, or you prefer larger, more established and stable organizations, we partner with organizations that truly could use someone with your talent.

To help illustrate the diverse job options, I’ve decided to highlight a few of the functional areas that are currently in high demand in the education sector. To bring these functions to life, I’ve selected successful JobSeekers that our WorkMonger team placed into various education organizations to work in these functions. I have also provided an overview of what their positions entail. My hope is that this will broaden your perspective and demonstrate that yes – there are roles for people just like you in the education sector that ultimately serve kids and make a difference.
