Rocketship is an innovative response to the need for high-quality educational options in our low-income communities and the desire to eliminate the achievement gap. Over the last 17 years, Rocketship has grown to include 10 charter schools across the country and for the third year in a row, they are in the top 5% of districts serving low income students in California.
In partnership with Rocketship, WorkMonger has placed two JobSeekers with the organization to date.
“What I love most about the work I do at Rocketship is the great team I get to work with every day. We face a lot of obstacles, but what I value most is that we have a team of dedicated, passionate individuals,” says Keina Hodge, a WorkMonger JobSeeker hired this past summer as Business Operations Manager in San Jose. “Rocketship allows students to dream big. Specifically, we target low income and low performing communities and we support them to reach a high threshold of success. We’re preparing elementary school students for the rest of their education.”
What sets Rocketship apart? They claim it’s their approach to public education. In addition to a great education, the charter school strives to empower teachers, engage parents, and inspire communities.
“Being able to give parents the option to choose where they want to send their kids to school is critical,” explains Keina. “Family engagement is embedded in our school model. At every Rocketship school, parents are required to volunteer – not as a penalization, but to build a community that’s wholeheartedly invested in every child’s education.”
