I have worked in education for over a decade. Although I come from a non-traditional educator background, my passion for education was born through my own educational journey. While in college, I initially thought I wanted to be a journalist – reporting the news and being immersed in the excitement of the industry. However, after a couple of work opportunities in that field, I realized journalism was not the right fit. This drove me to reflect deeply on what truly motivates me and how I wanted to give back to my community.
I was brought back to my fulfilling experiences volunteering as an ESL teacher and working directly with students of all ages. This realization sparked my decision to dive into the field of education. Ten years later, after having worked in various sectors within education, I find myself extremely passionate about helping to identify and recruit diverse talent to work in this exciting and rewarding field.
As a first-generation professional and former K-12 student myself, I understand firsthand the importance of having leaders and educators who reflect the diversity of the student populations they serve, both in and outside of the classroom. Now, with WorkTogether, I feel I can help bridge this gap in education by connecting robust, diverse talent with impactful opportunities across the education landscape.
My Why
I moved to the USA when I was in my early teens, and Spanish is my first language. This has given me a unique perspective on education and the people who work in the industry. Although my parents always motivated me to learn English, my teachers throughout my K-12 years had a direct impact on my language development.
I remember seeing some of my teachers grow beyond the classroom, taking on roles that were just as important but outside of the traditional teaching environment. Their impact on me inspired me to want to be like them when I grew up.
Now, as a Manager of Talent Services, I get to work directly with incredible professionals who are looking for the right fit, whether as clients or job seekers. It brings me great joy to connect individuals who I know are making a difference with the right opportunity, so they can continue to help students like me achieve their goals.
I love learning about the incredible work our clients are doing. It’s a powerful reminder that there are amazing “superheroes” out there, establishing programs that create opportunities for professionals. It’s also a reminder that 1. the right people with the right opportunity directly or indirectly impact all student and 2. not all superheroes wear capes.
