Updating Hiring Materials before Spring Hiring Sprint
The Challenge
eight weeks to update 30 unique job descriptions
Redesign Schools, a two-site charter network in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana needed to update all of their campus-based job descriptions to be more relevant, more accurate and more compelling before launching into the Spring hiring season. We had eight weeks to update 30 unique job descriptions so that the Redesign hiring team was in the best position possible to meet their hiring goals.
The Outcomes
We Restructured their Job Descriptions
At the end of our eight week sprint, we were able to share a complete set of updated job descriptions, from teacher’s aide to principal, math teacher to music teacher, that showcased Redesign’s unique value proposition. In our research, we learned that Redesign’s benefit package was worth 20% more than the local school district’s package, their biggest competitor for instructional talent. Using that knowledge, we restructured their job descriptions to highlight that difference.
The Team Improved Their Response Rate
In addition, we chose to spend valuable real estate on the job description describing Redesign’s year round approach to instruction, as it was a common reason candidates withdrew from their process later on. Using these updated job descriptions, the Redesign team meaningfully improved their response rate to new job postings, and applicants were able to surface questions, potential barriers and meaningful concerns earlier in their process.
