The Challenge

Building a racially diverse pool for the kipp capital coo

When KIPP Capital came to us to help find their new COO, they communicated the importance of representative leadership and ensuring a racially diverse leadership team. This is a value we share with all of our clients, but when we’re recruiting for more challenging cities, it requires something different from our team.

The Outcomes

Large-scale Marketing & Highly Personalized Headhunting

Leading the operations of a multi-site charter network the size and scope of KIPP Capital is a big job that requires significant experience and leadership. As a result, we already knew our candidate pool would be pretty small. Finding senior leaders at the caliber KIPP Capital requires, and who would be willing to relocate to the Albany area, required large-scale marketing and highly personalized headhunting.

We Built a Strong & Racially Diverse Candidate Pool

We gathered demographic data at each stage of the selection process and were fierce about our recruitment efforts. For this role alone, we reached out to well over 400 candidates individually and pushed out marketing materials in a variety of sources to get this stellar opportunity in front of the broadest swath of candidates possible. At the end of our search, we were able to build a racially diverse pool and support KIPP Capital’s goal of building a racially diverse senior leadership team.
