Growing up surrounded by dedicated educators, Cortney saw firsthand the impact they had on students’ lives and knew she wanted to be part of that world. While she didn’t study to be a teacher in college (she took the business and psychology route instead!), Cortney jumped into education right after graduation. Driven by her love for kids and learning, she started by helping programs that support student learning and assisting new teachers in becoming certified. Now, Cortney helps leaders transform schools and organizations in education. What keeps her in education is the unwavering belief that every student deserves the best possible education in life, and she’s committed to being part of that process.
Throughout her 15-year journey in education talent management, Cortney’s learned the importance of adaptability and continuous learning. The educational landscape is ever-changing, and staying current with hiring trends and best practices is crucial. Cortney’s journey into talent management was a natural extension of her interests in people, psychology, and their impact on business. The pivotal moment came when she started helping principals at DC Public Schools (DCPS) hire new teachers. The excitement and satisfaction of matching the right people to the right schools had her hooked!
